Medici University Gallery ~ Generative, Glitch and Gifs Opening

gg and gThe MUGA opening was last Friday evening and I enjoyed it. I’d been concerned that certain people might treat it as a Crit Class but there was nothing troubling or annoying for me. People were generally supportive and it was kept light and social. gg and g 2My four pieces were the first four (keepers) I’d ever done. I’m not at all experienced in this sort of creativity as the other three artists, Elle Thorkveld, Feels Empty and Michael Green who entered a piece at the last minute.

I did a post about the opening on my main blog, which is unusual for me. I’m always highlighting the creativity of others. Two of my readers went to see the gallery later, Hana Hoobino and Seraphim Placebo, and gave me kind feedback.ggand g 3Since I’m learning machinima, I put photos together in a slide show and searched for appropriate music and posted it here. I was surprised that this little effort took more data than the longer things I’ve done but then I see how busy the photo are and maybe it’s all those little bits of data. More so that the fields of soft grasses and soothing skies that I like. gg and g 4The curator, Myra Wildmist. might have one more gallery show. Machinima.

I have one ready but have used my Vimeo upload limit for this week. The video is an improvement over my previous ones and I’ll post about it soon.

The double exposure photography I used for the still photos in it – I took a crash tutorial course – took over any experimenting I might have done with the glitch art. For this week anyway.

MU Photography Tour of Mistero Hifeng’s Installation

Veyot led a photography tour of MU people to see the wonderful creations of Mistero Hifeng. We discussed windlight and were given note cards of the answers that Mistero graciously gave to questions about his work. We accomplished a lot in one hour and had an enjoyable and inspiring time.

I quickly snapped and processed these photos and am posting here so ones appropriate for a gallery can be chosen.6

Transparent

These are my drawings as the briefly looked from one angle in the new Drawing Gallery

transparent_002

And as they became transparent and couldn’t be seen. I finally took all but one down as I’d spent quite a bit of time on it.

Snapshot_016

Next week I’m to have a drawing of Marie Beedit for class. Trilby, Marie and I went on a photo shoot for this. This is the photo I chose to draw. The drawing itself isn’t very good but I’m amused at the title: Mother Marie and Baby Ginger. I gave them halos.

Snapshot_007

This was the outfit and location but not the pose of the drawing Trilby will do of me.

Snapshot_020

They tried lots of outfits and locations but Trilby gave me a break and was satisfied with my set up soon enough.

Ocho Tango

Friday night I showed Feels some places. We went to Chouchou so he could try out a cinematic hud. The we went to Mistero Hifeng’s place, Ocho Tango and The Far Away. He took some great photos for his Flickr.

Saturday

saturday_001

It was stormy out in real life for my biological agent so I got to work on projects in SL. There are many of them lately and I will tell more when I get more of them finished. It was the last day of my Drinking and Drawing instructors’ show at Roissey Theater so I made time to visit.

saturday_002

Then I set out some of my work in the artist colony on Sansara. I live nearby and had been walking down the road as a break Friday evening. I wandered over onto Midnight Beach and Scarlett had seen me on the map and came over to talk to me. She has set up an artist colony nearby and there was a trailer studio available.

saturday_003So I put out a few of my photographs. Somehow it adds to my confidence to do this. I’m not quite sure how that happens.

saturday_004

I also put out some of my drawings from class. If anyone had told me I’d be doing this three months ago, I wouldn’t have believed it.

saturday_005

All the studios have been taken now and Scarlett has started a flickr group.

saturday_006

There’s a coffee shop and hangout place on the grounds. Scarlett creates wonderful environments.

saturday_015

I showed RMarie, who’s in the drawing class with me, Van’s show.

saturday_016

And then took her to see my new studio.

This Week

This is the spring wreath that Veyot made out of the flowers we textured.

This weekend there were several on-campus Jane’s Walk to honor Jane Jacobs. I wasn’t able to attend and instead led a small walk to Forgotten City.Marie's Jane's WalkSunday evening, RMarie  led a Walk to 18th century France.5_4_15_002Monday evening, Trilby and I had self-portraits for Drinking and Drawing class. Above is Trilby’s drawing; it was lovely.

s_p_2

This is my drawing. It kind of looks like me except for the nose. Mine is larger and straighter.

I put my story boards around my studio. If I get participants to write stories I’ll do another.

Maybe we don’t do things more than a few times here and that’s O.K.

Giving Feels Empty a tour of Roche

Giving Feels Empty a tour of Roche

Real life as well as online has been more busy than ever. I had no idea that MU would take so much time and I’m going to have to cut back my social media regarding it. It’s a choice between that and actually getting something done.

It’s odd that it’s presented as being immersive as we walk around and communicate face to face but more and more it seems to be pulling me into the website and Slack, another online communication place for us to collaborate on projects.mu 2No one seemed to think I looked like a dude in my drawing.   There was no way I had time to do it over and there’s another one due Monday, another self-portrait at a different angle.

I filled out a survey about MU for the proposal of a continuation. It’s a great idea but I’m not sure who is going to be willing to be administration.

I’m taking the online writing course that Elle mentioned on MU Talk. I really like it so far but am spending more time than the instructors suggested it would take.

Newton, Feels Empty and me

Newton, Feels Empty and me

I gave a friend feedback as she hung her photos at the Chelsea Hotel. There’s to be an exhibition through May. The opening is on Saturday but I have a real life commitment. I want to cover it for my main blog as well as covering other things that are piling up.

This week I’ve been focusing on Fantasy Faire which will be over Sunday evening.

And I still have my Story Board project. I’ll post a link on MU Talk to this blog so people can read the five excellent submissions I got and then I’ll prepare the pictures for next week. I want to use the photo above as the final picture in this next series.

Veyot gave us each a flower to texture (just the petal part) and this is mine. She is going to make a spring wreath out of them. A fun and short project for me!
